I will be the first to admit that I actually take really horrible care of my nails (that's obvious for any jeweler out there). But, I have a curiosity in the growing trend of nail art over the past few years. I was browsing through Pinterest and saw some tutorials for turquoise stone nail art and I knew I had to give them a try! What could be better than wearing turquoise around your neck? Wearing it on your fingers too!!
Check out how the final product came out!
Turquoise Nails DIY Materials List:
- Nail polish: turquoise, black, gold and clear top coat
- small spray bottle
- nail polish remover
- small cup
- tape (I used washi tape:)
Step 1: Paint your nails a solid turquoise color and let them dry.
Step 2: Drop 2-3 drops of black and 2-3 drops of gold nail polish in a cup of water. Do this quickly, so the drops don't sink to the bottom of the water glass.
Step 3: Mix one part water and one part nail polish remover in the spray bottle and shake well. Then spray the top of the cup of water with the nail polish drops to break up the paint. (NOTE: Only spray a couple times. I found out the hard way that too many sprays will actually create a great big goop glob of nail polish!)
Step 4: Cover your finger tips with tape so only the nails are visible.
Step 5: Dip one finger at a time into the paint filled water. The water should look like the image below, with a slightly marbled appearance.
Step 6: You will need to repeat steps 2-5 for each finger. In between each dip, make sure to use a q-tip to clear out the excess paint. Again, the paint can get goopy if you don't change it in between dipping each finger. Once you've dipped, let the fingers dry and remove the tape! Finish with a clear top coat for a brilliant shine!
